LINDY HOP

LH1: LINDY HOP Beginners

LH1.1 LINDY INTRO
This course is for complete beginners, no prior dance experience needed.
We cover the basic rhythms, steps and moves of Lindy Hop in slower and faster tempo.
We discover the principles of lead & follow, mutual inspiration in a couple and dance improvisation.
We learn to better understand swing music and react to it. Together we experience swing and jazz values.

LH1.2 STEP BY STEP
This course is for dancers who’ve finished LH1.1, so around 3 months dance experience.
In this course we dig deeper into what we already know – add new moves, connect basic moves and variations, work on couple cooperation, discover more rhythm variations of basic steps, spice up couple dancing with more personal freedom and work on the basic principle of musicality: that music and dance go together.

LH1.3 SWINGOUT & VARIATIONS
This course is for beginners who’ve finished LH1.1 and LH1.2, so at least 6 months dance experience.
The course is focused on the basic move of swingout and its variations (e.g. inside/outside turn, rising sun…). We polish the technique, discover the magic of swingout and its uses and get confident in it, emphasising keeping a safe and comfortable feeling and freedom for individual styling.

LH2: LINDY HOP Intermediate

LH2.1 VARIATIONS & CREATIVITY
For dancers with around 12 months dance experience. Having finished LH1.3 or similar in another school is a necessary requirement.
We cover more complex swingout variations as well as other moves, connect them and focus on musicality, improvisation and using solo jazz elements and rhythms in couple dancing. We practise lead & follow technique, follow the follow, the dynamics of stretch and turning.

LH2.2 LINDY CHARLESTON
For dancers with around 1,5 year dance experience who have finished all the LH1 courses.
Fast tempo! We practise kick steps everywhere. We discover the historical context and origins of Lindy Hop, what it came from and how, and add more complex variations to our Flying Charleston.

LH2.3 FAST AND FURIOUS
For dancers with around 1,5 year experience who are comfortable with swingout (!) and Flying Charleston (have finished LH1.3, LH2.1 and LH2.2).
Swingout again? Yes, but fast this time! To be able to dance Lindy to fast tempo we have to work on technique. In this course we pay a lot of attention to it in slow tempo as well as fast. We practise speed in Lindy in general, focusing on fast swingouts and connecting Flying Charleston and triple steps. Because that’s the real deal! Endorfins out, Lindy Hop till you drop!

LH3: LINDY HOP Intermediate/Advanced

LH 3 Focus is a Lindy Hop course for anyone who has finished the LH2 courses. LH3 courses focus on specific topics that emerge from the preferences of each group, teachers’ interests or whishes gathered from the social dancefloor.

LH4: LINDY HOP Advanced

LH4 Focus is a course for the most advanced dancers. It is focused on a specific topic. In this course we expect an active approach from the students, i.e. individual practice outside classes, active learning in class or homework assigned by teachers.

Some LH4 courses can only be attended after passing an audition (it says so in the description) where teachers select students of appropriate level.
