Topic: Music & dance styles
In our third session we’ll delve into the rich world of styles, genres and types of music we can encounter on the dancefloor. We’ll listen to music that birthed jazz, discover some of its different kinds we hear at socials and also mention more recent music that builds on the jazz tradition. Apart from music we’ll also discuss some aspects of dance, for instance:
– what can help us decide which dance style to choose for a particular song
– how we as dancers can react to changes in the music
– how expressing different styles and moods of the music is something we can do from our first steps
No experience with listening to swing music is needed for this session. It is open to anyone who wants to listen in peace off the dancefloor or discuss different styles of music and dance.
